Canada Closeouts: Before & After

A full repositioning of canadacloseouts.com from a generic dropshipping storefront into a wholesale supply site built for market and booth vendors. Here is what changed, and what still needs the team.

13 July 2026New homepage: liveCatalogue: 495 products reworkedOld homepage: backed up, reversible

The homepage

From “browse our products” to “here is how you make money”

The old homepage spoke to a shopper. The new one speaks to a reseller: one source, priced to resell, restocked weekly, built by vendors. Modeled on the reference site (Everful), in the Canada Closeouts brand.

Before
“Discover Your Next Favorite”
  • Generic boutique / dropshipping tone
  • No vendor or wholesale positioning
  • No pricing or margin story anywhere
  • Headline text baked into images (not editable, bad for SEO)

After
Buy Wholesale.
Sell for Double.

“Buy Wholesale. Sell for Double.”
  • Vendor-first positioning, priced for resale
  • “You pay $10 → You sell $20” margin card
  • Rotating announcement bar, live category & product grids
  • Real lifestyle photos, premium serif type, warm palette

The catalogue

The real finding: it was written for the wrong reader

The catalogue was not neglected. Images were strong, descriptions were long. But every word sold to the person who would use the product, not the person who would resell it. A vendor literally could not place an order from it.

495
products fully rewritten (pass one)
488was 0
now carry a suggested resale price
243
titles shortened (avg 69 → 51 chars)
$0
prices moved — nothing repriced
What was broken
  • 493 of 495 never stated a case pack
  • Zero said whether price was per unit or per case
  • Zero carried a resale price, despite “Sell for Double” being the whole promise
What every product now has
  • Cleaned title and a description rebuilt from real spec data
  • A booth-math block: You pay / Sells for about / You keep
  • Full backups (local snapshot + per-product server backup), checksum-verified

Everything else done this build

Live on the site
  • New homepage rebuilt section by section and set as the front page
  • Rotating announcement bar (site-wide) matching the reference site
  • Custom category grid with real images (fixed the blank Pet tile)
  • Premium type (Fraunces serif), warm palette, gold accents
  • Removed the “Stock More, Save More” claim (no discount mechanic exists yet)
Drafted & ready to publish
  • Five pages written: About, Contact, FAQ, How It Works, Shipping
  • $100 welcome bundle and volume-discount ladder designed
  • Email popup plan (Brevo — unlimited free contacts)
  • Speed audit: bottleneck is server response time, not page weight

Flags for the team — these need someone other than Kunal

Two are costing money right now. Two are public promises the business now has to keep.
1
Seven products are purchasable for $0.00 today

Live and free to add to cart. Price them or unpublish them.

2
The store has no working price mechanic

Not one of 495 products has a sale price set. “Price Drops” and “Deal of the Week” currently promise savings nothing delivers.

3
We now publicly promise 1–2 business day dispatch

Operations must confirm we can hit it, or we soften the copy now before the first order.

4
Zero reviews — the biggest gap vs the reference site

Highest-leverage fix available: three real quotes from three real customers. Donna (Queen Mary Market) is already up. We need two more.

5
Category taxonomy needs a cleanup

129 categories with duplicate pairs (Pets/Pet Supplies, Bags/Luggage). Two homepage tiles point at the smaller twin.

Scope of effort

What this represents

A multi-session, full-day effort combining live browser-driven site building with a complete catalogue pass. Quantified by output rather than hours: one homepage rebuilt end to end across dozens of iterative edits, 495 product listings rewritten and individually backed up and checksum-verified, five new pages written, a site-wide announcement bar, a category audit, and a performance audit. (Exact token and billing figures live in the Anthropic usage dashboard; this report quantifies the delivered work instead.)
